Step 1: Open Advanced Startup Options Press the Windows key and „r“ on your keyboard at the same time, then type cmd and press „Enter“ to open a command prompt. On the left side of your screen, click „Computer“. Further down, click on „Advanced startup options.“ You will see two options: Safe Mode with Command Prompt and Safe Mode with Network. In this tutorial, we will use Safe Mode with Command Prompt because it allows us to switch to Administrator Mode . Click on the Safe Mode with Command Prompt option.
Step 2: Run a troubleshooting tool If your computer does not boot up normally, you will see an error message. Here, you can run a troubleshooting tool like CCleaner or Driver Genius to fix possible issues and errors. Right-click the CMD shortcut and click „Run as administrator“. In the prompt window, type: C:\Program Files\CCleaner64.exe /autostart After you run CCleaner, it will start automatically after your computer restarts, which is before the login screen appears.
Common problems and solutions when starting Windows with CMD in safe mode
When you start Windows with CMD in Safe Mode, you may encounter some common problems. For example, the Enter key may not work when you boot in Safe Mode, or you may get stuck at the command prompt when booting your computer. Fortunately, there are solutions to these problems that can help you get your system up and running again. If you get stuck at the command prompt and can’t press Enter, try this solution: hold down the CTRL and ALT keys on your keyboard at the same time. Then press the F8 key. If you see a Windows Advanced Startup Options window, follow these instructions to enable the Enter key for your computer. If that doesn’t work, type this command in Safe Mode to enable it: bcdedit /set {current} bootdel. Press F8 again after each step of this process is complete to restart your computer and exit safe mode. To enable the Enter key: Open a command prompt with elevated privileges. Click the Start menu, and then type „cmd“ in the search box. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. In Administrator mode, type bcdedit /set {current} bootdel and press Enter to set it as a startup option.
