Change club in Fifa career mode – here’s how!
Before the manager career in Fifa career mode starts, you need to make basic settings: You have to decide on a coach, choose a stadium, set game settings, activate or deactivate the transfer window or cup participation in the first season and of course choose a club. Depending on your game strategy, the club selection is of course especially important.
Choosing a club at the beginning of a career
Do you plan to stay with one club the whole time, or do you want to change teams regularly and possibly coach teams from other nations and leagues? If you want to switch, the team decision is not too crucial. However, if you want to stay with one team for the whole time, you should consider carefully in which league and with which club you start. The individual clubs focus on different goals: Sometimes success goals are important, sometimes it’s youth development and scouting, and sometimes it’s financial goals that are paramount.
Start of the season – no change of club possible
If you have started your coaching career, you will not be able to move to another club in the next months. Also you will not receive any offers from other clubs yet. The change menu cannot be called up at this point or you will be shown that there are currently no offers for you.
This is of course logical: If you have just signed with 1. FC Nuremberg, you will be bound by contract, so that a direct and renewed transfer is not possible. The situation is similar at the start of a new season. When a new season starts, the switch function is not available. So you can’t „abandon“ your club directly on the second or third matchday and switch to England, etc. In the course of the season, however, the switching window will be opened for you. Ideally, you should switch either during the summer or winter break. Of course, the best time is always at the end of a season.
Change coach and club: this is how it works!
First you should check your „job offers“ in the „office“ section. In the example, we are offered a coaching position at VfL Bochum in the second Bundesliga. Transfer budget as well as salary budget of the new club are of course visible. At the same time, you can see what salary you will be offered at your potential new club and what your main goal is. Here you can already estimate whether this club might be suitable for you. At the same time you can have a look at the current league position and the balance (wins, draws and defeats). Last but not least you can see the current starting eleven of your potential new team.
Apply for the job
Now you should click on „Apply for job“ in the lower left area to send an application to VfL Bochum.
Important: You cannot apply for two clubs at the same time. You can only submit one job application at a time. In real life, of course, it’s different: Otto Rehhagel or Ottmar Hitzfeld will certainly have received numerous offers at their peak times and individual coaches, if they are looking, will certainly also look around and apply at many different clubs. At least here you get the hint that a job application is already running. So now you have to wait if the club of your choice accepts and if you can leave your current club afterwards.
Wait 1-4 days for an answer from the board
The clubs usually take between 1 and 4 days to reply. Ideally, you will receive the following message: „Thank you for your interest in the vacant coaching position at our club. VfL Bochum would like to officially offer you the position of a coach. We would be pleased to hear from you soon. Your VfL Bochum board“. This message is of course an acceptance. You can now start immediately and view the VfL offer.
Sign offer or hesitate
If you are not sure yet, you can hesitate and wait. The club will contact you again shortly. Or you can accept (or decline) the offer. If you accept the offer, you will leave your club immediately and move directly to the new club and get new tasks. Of course, a direct change afterwards is no longer possible. If you want to „move on“ to get more coaching salary, you have to be patient for a moment. The change window will be opened again after a few match days.
30 changes in the coaching career?
That’s possible. Assuming you would change at the winter or summer break, you can be employed by about 30 clubs in the course of your managerial career. This does not always work out, because there are not always suitable offers and you may not always accept the offers. But in principle it is possible. Whether it makes sense in a Fifa mode that is focused on continuity, youth work and a thriving youth academy is of course questionable. But the good thing is: everyone is allowed to play the way they want. From there, we wish you a lot of fun with the lively change of coaching positions!
